On 9th March, 2011, the young community service students of the Interact Club of Roots School System, D.H.A Phase 1 Campus launched the pilot project of a Model Classroom at the Govt. Elementary School, Kothan Kalan, Morgah. The ceremony was planned to focus on the importance of education for girls. The Interact Club Members pledged educating a man is educating an individual and educating a woman is educating a generation.

The ceremony was attended by the notables of the area and members of Rotary Club of Rawalpindi. The member provincial assembly and assistant to Chief Minister Punjab, Chaudary Sarfraz Afzal, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Chief Executive Roots School System, Pakistan Mushtaq Rasul Chaudary and Founder Director Roots School System, Mrs. Mushtaq especially came to applaud the efforts of the volunteers of community service initiatives of Roots DHA-1 Campus.

LGCF (Liberating the Girl Child Foundation) has been recognized as the Roots Interact Club (Rotary International) sponsored by Rotary Club of Rawalpindi hence Rtn. Muzammil Ahmed Zahid (President Rotary Club Rawalpindi), Rtn. Rashid Mashkoor (Secretary Rotary Club Rawalpindi), Rtn. Manzoor Hussain Malik, Rtn. Khushnood-ul-Hassan, Rtn. Taimur Khalil Khan, Rtn. Nosherwan Khalil Khan and other members were also present on the occasion to encourage and appreciate these efforts of the young Interact Club Members.

The young students of Roots launched a project under their inspiring president Neha Omair and gave it the title of LGCF (Liberating the Girl Child Foundation). The Rootsians believe sharing is the essence of human relationships and this value motivates them to lead in the forefront in all the humanitarian issues, relief campaigns or projects.

It was a historic day for the young members of LGCF; all girls aged between 12 to 14 years, seeing the realization of an idea initiated by their peer member, Neha Omair, a student of class 7. The beautiful integration of the Roots girls and the Government Elementary girls brought tears in the eyes of all the parents, teachers and the community members.

The members of LGCF driven by their philanthropic spirit are working tirelessly to Reform, Renovate and to Re-structure these “sister schools”. These volunteers raised funds to improve the general ambiance of the Government School, Kothan Kalan, Morgah. Through their untiring efforts they prepared a “Model Classroom”. It was beautifully decorated with colourful furniture and fixtures. All the art work had been prepared by the students themselves. The entire group of volunteers re-shaped the classroom within hours. The team work, empathy and dedication of the young community service group for the under privileged was very impressive.

The speakers at the ceremony included the Patron of the Community Group, Khadija Mushtaq, Director Roots School System, who has introduced compulsory community service at high school level. The Chief Guest Chaudary Sarfraz greatly appreciated this endeavor and announced to work in collaboration with Roots volunteers for the uplift of the Government schools. The inspiring young President of Interact Club of Roots School System gave an impressive speech on the vision of the Club and the aim and objectives. The ceremony ended with the distribution of gifts from the students of Roots, DHA-1 to the students of Government Elementary School. Thus Roots students sowed the seeds of hope and joy in the hearts of the girls of the “Sister School”.
