INTERACT CLUB OF ROOTS SCHOOL SYSTEM

Universal Children’s day is celebrated officially on the 20th November worldwide. It is an international child rights awareness campaign for the protection of child rights. Roots School System DHA1 celebrated this day with great zeal and zest on Tuesday 20th November 2012 at The Prime Minister Secretariat, Islamabad.

The young community mobilizer Neha Omair, President of  Interact Club of Root DHA 1 Campus project “Liberating the Girl Child Foundation”, mesmerized the audience with her thought provoking in depth analysis of the state of children in Pakistan and suggested recommendations on behalf of the children of Pakistan to ensure protection of children through legislation of laws. Neha  in her speech, said educating a boy is educating an individual and educating a girl means educating a family.
She called for giving special attention to girls’ education and stated that girls’ education would help families get rid of poverty and best utilize their resources.

Liberating the Girl Child Foundation is a project of Interact Club of Roots School System DHA1 Campus, Islamabad. Neha Omair started this as classroom project in 2009 and presented at Harvard University. It has now 1500 registered members and 15 global ambassadors. LGCF focuses on educating and empowering the girl child.

The occasion was graced by the Honorable Prime Minister His Excellency Raja Pervez Ashraf ,Mrs. Rubina Saadat Qaimkhani MNA/ Chairperson Parliamentary Forum on Child Rights, PPP Chairman Mr. Billawal Bhuto Zardari, parliamentarians, representatives of United Nations organizations, civil society representatives, government officials and a large number of children attended the ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony, the Chief guest PPP Chairman Mr. Billawal Bhuto Zardari awarded Neha Omair with The National Children's Talent Award 2012 in the category community service.
