Rotary Club Rawalpindi participated in the Rotary Global Swimarathon on Saturday 25th Feb, 2012 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Rawalpindi from 5 pm to 6 pm local time i.e. GMT + 5 to spread Polio awareness. Thirty Five (35) swimmers took part in the event.
According to the orgaizers " Once again I have a fantastic update on the numbers to share with you. We have now almost all of the swimmer numbers collected and with the 35 swimmers who took part at the Rotary Club of Rawalpindi event in Pakistan, we have now (unofficially) more than DOUBLED the current world record of 2533 - with 5107 swimmers now reported!!
Fundraising information from all the local events has already reached £30,199 or approximately US $47900".
Rotary Club Rawalpindi is thankful to the Administration of Pearl Continetal Hotel, Rawalpindi for the support and help they gave to make this event a success.
Participation certificates were given to participants while Assisstant Governor RI District 3272 Manzoor Hussain Malik, President RC Rawalpindi Khushnud ul Hassan and Secretary RC Rawalpindi Nosherwan Khalil Khan presented Shields to Mr. Sheharyar Mirza, General Manager Pearl Continental Hotel Rawalpindi, Assistant Manager Pearl Continental Hotel Rawalpindi and to Mr. Asad Shah Public Relations Pearl Continental Hotel Rawalpindi.
